Pump and Boo’s Big Motorhome Adventure

March 10, 2010 by Pumpkin 21 Comments

one of Boo's warm spots

Dar and Rob loaded up the two of us into their little mini house and took us on their adventure. This is what it’s been like for us. Two cats in an RV, on the road, around the countryside experiencing all the sights, sounds, smells, birds and dogs.

Day 79 – Taking the RV to the Beach

March 3, 2010 by Darlene 11 Comments

Rob wanted to allow his cats to experience the ocean, so we took the ferry to Port Aransas and then parked the RV on the beach. Part of the trip was to do a photo shoot for an RV magazine we had written an article for about first time RVing so we wanted the shots to be spectacular. Then we enjoyed a nice evening meal at Fishermans Wharf complete with sunset over the marina photos.

Cats On the Beach

my cat boo and the rv on the beach

We took the motorhome out for the day to Padre Island to get shot of the RV on the beach for a Good Sam Highways magazine article we wrote (and for our own fun filled day). I took the opportunity to let my cats experience the ocean, the waves and the beach. It may have been more than they bargained for.

Day 6 – Two Days in Pahrump Nevada

December 20, 2009 by Darlene 4 Comments

We left Mesquite Nevada, stopped into the Whole Foods in Vegas and then climbed a very long and steep hill as we crossed the mountain range and headed down into Pahrump Nevada, home of Art Bell. After a little shopping for odds and ends we needed (vacuum and new sewer hose), we visited the Pahrump Desert Winery for a tasting.

Day 4 – Mormon Temple Square

December 18, 2009 by Darlene 4 Comments

tabernacle salt lake city

After gassing up and moving the quantum energy magnets from the Toad to the motorhome engine, we left for Salt Lake City Utah. It was a short day on the road and we were both excited about visiting the Mormon Tabernacle and Temple Square. As it was the holiday season, the Temple Square was lit up and filled with families. Dar got some great shots while Rob crossed another “point of interest” off his list.

RV Travel Thoughts

Free Stuff .... sort of

You never know when your luck will draw to you free stuff along the road. 6 months, roughly 22 states and a smattering of Provinces puts a person in enough situations where free stuff, just seems to come your way. While we didn't play poker, we did put $5 into a nickle slot and win $104. That's free money in my books. In Tombstone, we walked into Big Nose Kate's, saddled up to the bar and are asked "would you like a margarita?" and were given a free drink. This happened again in Texas. We also got a free months electricity at an RV park that will remain nameless (wont say why either, and no we didn't "unplug and run")

Pee Before Driving Through Cities

When you're driving an RV, you travel with your toilet, but while the passenger has the luxury of peeing while you move, the driver does not. I've learned that before entering any city limits, it's a good idea to find a place to pull over and pee because while on the Interstate, there are no pull outs to be found. They say the human bladder can hold 18 oz or 1/2 a litre of fluid, but I would wager it to be a lot more.
