FYI for all Young Snowbirds readers: Road Trip calendars for 2011 are now available on my site. I had so many images and requests to have them that I have created a calendar of some of my favorites from the road. You can see all the images in the calendar and order one on my photography blog at: http://www.herviewphotography.com/2010/09/30/road-trip-2011-calendars.html

You are MOST welcome! We very much enjoyed our experience and will return if we are even in New Orleans again. We've already sent one or two other people your way and they too loved it. We always try to support independent and locally owned businesses, and we seek out good clean healthy food which is sometimes hard to find. So thank you for doing that you do!

Hello Darlene,
I am honored to see our little cafe so respectfully described and promoted. Thank you.

Our dialect has always been of interest to the world. We have been a melting pot of cultures for centuries. Our dialect is considered "broken" French, African, Spanish leading to the Queen's English.

Once again thank you for sharing your fabulous experiences.

thanks Karen - I'm a photographer also and was my second trip there. The reason we didn't stay there was we were told it wasn't a very safe area and the 8' fence and razor wire and armed guards there at night didn't make us feel good about it. Maybe you didn't notice anything cause you were only there one night. We stayed up by the lake at http://www.pontchartrainlanding.com/ and it was only $39-49 if I recall right. They offered a free daily shuttle into the quarter and because we stayed a week and did other things like swamp tours, plantations, garden district, etc - it was a good base for it. We were parked right on the water and was very safe/secure. We talked to one couple that had been at the one you stayed at and moved to ours cause they heard 4 gun shots the first night and bugged out.

Hi Darlene, I responded to your RV park question on my blog but I wanted to make sure you got it... Here's a recap:

Yup, we stayed at the French Quarter RV Resort, and it was very nice. It was very well taken care of, and had a pool and hot tub area. The check-in area was more on par with a hotel. But the location was definitely the best thing about it. I could walk to Bourbon Street in 10 minutes. The only downside was the price. It's $69 for a normal night, and the night we were there for the Jazz fest, it was $120. We usually dont stay at places that pricy, but I had never been to New Orleans before and it was just so convenient. Here's the link to their site: http://www.fqrv.com

Hope you have fun there! Your blog is great and your photography is beautiful!
