I believe so but it's quite a hike down and back up again. We didn't have time but you could find out by contacting the center there.

That was amazing. The door picture is my favorite. It is so mysterious with the light beyond the door, like you are walking into heaven through a very humble door. You have such a gift Darlene. And the way you write to accompany the photos and tell the story Rob, really brings them to life.

So I'm thinking you two really need to plan a trip to Yosemite. There is one weekend in June when the remaining Native Americans from this area come together there in Yosemite Valley for a pow wow and they dance and dress in their tribal garb. They are entirely different from the indians in AZ and NM. Yosemite village has a historic indian village in the visitor center along with the Ansel Adams gallery. You would appreciate a visit to the Ahwahanee Hotel and the Wawona hotel and pioneer village with it's covered bridge. I'd love to see those places through your lens and commentary. It is my all time favorite place on the planet. Oh, plan on doing some major hiking there too. Half Dome is and incredible hike. If you do it in the spring, you will get wet from the mist off the water falls so take something to keep the camera dry. Maybe you could catch a rainbow in the mist.

Have a great trip and keep those blogs and photos coming. I'm looking forward to seeing what is yet to come and going back to see what I have missed from your previous blogs.

Yes, we've discussed traveling the entire Route 66 a few times. We had a trip up to Kingman planned, where we'd spend pretty much an entire weekend driving and photographing Route 66, but we ran out of time.

Hello young birds! Thought I'd tell you to check out some of Ben Wilmore's images of Route 66. I believed he covered the entire route. Can remember his website....I think it was something like "whereisben.com" hmmm? Anyhow, he did it when he was introducing hdr.

Hope you 2 are doing well!

Wow! I love Darlene's photos! Rob, the journalism is pretty darn good, too. Well done you two. La Posada should pay you for doing some advertising for them on your blog! Keep the pictures coming.

<em>"....but I seem to recall that this little bugger I’m pictured with is about 1100 pounds..." </em>

I thought that you were talking about the person that you were standing with in the image above that comment, before I scrolled down to see that you were actually writing about the meteorite! LOL.

Awesome images and account, guys. I thought that it was quite quaint how the road splits into 2 one-way streets through the towns on Route 66 - Williams is the same.

Did you ever see the movie "Cars"? Kids' movie, I know, but it deals with the Route 66 closure and the impact that it had on the little towns. Being a big kid, I did enjoy it!
